PASSOVER SEDER SHOPPING LIST

(SHOPPING LIST FOR 60 PEOPLE)

 

SAMPLE MENU: Chicken or Turkey Breast, Baked Potato, Green Beans, Carrots, Horseradish, Boiled Eggs, Charoset, Romaine Lettuce, Matzah, Grape Juice, Tea, Coffee.

 

(MANY ITEMS COULD BE DONATIONS)

---12 containers for juice.

---5 large ice chests for ice and foil wrapped baked potatoes. Styrofoam OK.

---100 16-ounce styrofoam cups. Fast food restaurants donate.

---100 12-ounce styrofoam cups.

---Paper towels, 2 rolls minimum.

---Large serving spoons, approx. 20 needed.

---4 sets of salad tongs.

---20 ounces grape juice per person.

---12 plastic pitchers, 64 oz. each.

---Matzah - 4 boxes for Passover Seder (5-8 pieces per table of 8).

---24 white candles - 2 per table of 8.

---3 heads of romaine lettuce. (You could substitute ice berg if romaine is not available.)

---4-6 bundles of parsley.

---2 dozen brown eggs or boil eggs with tea or coffee bags to turn them brown. (Only need enough eggs for one per seder plate!)

---6 jars of Kraft Horseradish. The blue jar will serve about 2-3 tables. You may grate your own horseradish, mix with beet juice to color red.

---100 5-ounce grape juice/wine glasses. (Plastic glasses are fine.)

---Kosher wine (NOTE: This should be kosher for Passover. Label will indicate Kosher.)

---coffee 1 lb can. Filters.

---150 styrofoam bowls for salads.

---Small white garbage bags to carry home items, i.e. silverware.

---Large trash bags.

---Apples for Charoset or kosher apple sauce simplifies the task.

---8# bag of Walnuts or Almonds.

---4 oz can of Cinnamon.

---5 lbs. Sugar.

---Kosher coffee creamer, 100 packets or small jar.

---Margarine in small 2 pack tubs for the tables.

---250 Sweet and Low packets. (Fast food restaurant donation.)

---250 Salt and pepper packets. (Fast food restaurant donation.)

---48 plastic spoons. (Fast food restaurant donation.)

---3 coolers for iced drinks. (Volunteers, friends, etc.)

---Roasters for meat (Volunteers, friends, or a local service organization.)

---Green salad. ( #3 size if prepackaged.)

---Kosher salad dressings. Please check labels.

125 baking potatoes/100 large and 30 smaller.

---Aluminum foil: We buy the kind that is already cut for our baked potatoes from Sam's Club.

---6 large crock pots.

---3 large cans, or 12 small cans, green beans. OR 3 lb. bags of frozen green beans, institutional size.

---16, 1 lb bags of frozen carrots, institutional size.

Three 9 lb turkey breast precooked, smoked, or regular. (We figure 1 slice of meat per child, and 1 1/2 slices per adult. Usually we have meat left over.)

---Silverware for 70 people.

---High chairs (please have them available)


SHOPPING LIST FOR 4-6 PEOPLE

---1-2 boiled brown eggs per table

---lamb shankbone (optional)

---apples or apple sauce

---Romaine or Iceberg lettuce

---cinnamon to taste

---Greens, parsley or celery

---Honey to taste

---Concord wine or grape juice

---2 candle holders

---2 white candles

---matches

---chopped walnuts or almonds

---Matzah bread (usually 10-16 pieces are in a box)

---hand towel

---1.5 oz jar of horseradish

---pitcher and basin

---Passover music


THIS IS AN EXAMPLE SPECIAL PARTY AGREEMENT WITH A HOTEL

Volunteers from our group worked with management at a local restaurant two years in a row. The following is a sample listing of the negotiated costs, which the ministry paid. Additional services requested, and use of facility place settings usually require additional negotiation. A meeting room can be $400 plus the cost of the meals at a Marriott Hotel. The service is great and they do a wonderful job while you sit back and relax.

NOTE: Prices subject to area. Allow for inflation. Listed costs: 1996.

DEPOSIT................................$50

Meal cost per person...............$20.95 + 18% gratuity + tax (then add the room charge on to that)

MENU: chicken or turkey, baked potatoes, salads, lettuce salad with dressing, green beans.

LINEN COLORS: white on white

P.A. SYSTEM : portable mike

REQUESTED PASSOVER FEE ON TOP OF MEAL: $2.00 per person covering extra foods and services.

DINNER SERVED AT APPROX. 7 PM

GENERAL PARTY INFORMATION

CATERER:

Hotel will provide the following per table:

--Table cloths

--Linen napkins

--2 extra white linen napkins

--6 custard/bullion sherbet bowls for horseradish and salt

--Water, and Charoset. Hostesses will put these into containers.

--4 extra spoons for Charoset and horseradish

--4 saucers to hold the bowls of horseradish and salt water

--Parsley

--Romaine lettuce prepared in halves as directed

--20 oz grape juice per person

--Wine glass per person

--Candlesticks

--1 platter per table
