Welcome to the Passover of Our Lord, it will be an experience to share this special service with you. So often the Service of Maundy Thursday commemorates the Lord's Supper, emphasizing the betrayal of Christ and the sorrow of the arrest thereafter. This is the moment caught in action by Leonardo DaVinci in his famous painting. It is well remembered and serves to bring us inner reflection of our worthy witness for Christ in today's world. During tonight's presentation we shall concentrate on Praising our Lord for the completion of his salvation plan and the Disciple's part in the final days of Jesus' life on Earth. We put it to you now that rather than sorrow we join in the adoration, praise and salvation of mankind to be revealed to the world and fulfilled on this night Jesus shared with his closest followers.
Tonight, we want to enhance this picture by adding back into this very important event, some of the Hebraicness of the lesson that we will share with you. We will be using some of the words that will allow us to step back in time with Our Lord as the Messiah. Please understand that these words and pictures are being presented to enhance our walk and to increase the relationship with Him in our lives. Let's step back now to that night so long ago. If He was among us, we would have called Him Yeshua which is His Name in Hebrew. Interestingly enough that name means "Salvation." The Hebrews were looking for their Messiah, so let's call Him that together: Yeshua the Messiah or Yeshua haMashiach.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Reader (Insert name)
Tonight as we come to this Seder table, we come with a desire, not because we must, but because we may. Let us sit together in humility, forgiving one another for the hurts and pains of the past. Let us confess our imperfections and seek God's grace. Christ's love and the Holy Spirit's fellowship. Come, let us thank God for life and partake of his abundant blessings in the elements of this Passover meal.
KIDDUSH
The word is derived from the Hebrew root "Qof-Dalet-Shin", meaning "Holy." This is a blessing over the grape juice in honor of the holiday. The grape juice is drunk, and a second cup is poured.
By blessing and partaking of this cup to set this day apart from other days. You make a distinction between the Holy and the Mundane, Light from Darkness, and the days of labor from the Sabbath. You have set this day apart for God.
Recline to the left while drinking the cup to symbolize that on this day you are a priest and king before God. We reline on pillows like royalty do, for Passover is a Festival of your Freedom.
Passover celebrates freedom of the children of Israel from their bondage of slavery, as a Believer you celebrate your freedom from the bondage of sin. This is guaranteed by your acceptance of Jesus/Yeshua into your heart and life. We fill not our own cup, but our neighbor's. This is a sign of royalty again that you do not fill your own. You hold the cup in your right hand as a symbol of strength. The right arm symbolizes Messiah, your strength. Everyone hold up your cup of grape juice.

Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open and all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hidden. Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspirations of Thy Holy Spirit that we may perfectly Love Thee and worthily magnify Thy Holy Name, through Jesus Christ/Yeshua HaMashiach Our Lord.
This is the blessing: "Blessed are You, O Lord, King of the Universe who creates the fruit of the Vine." In this, you remember what Jesus said in John 15:1 "I am the true vine..." Amen.
Now, all drink the Cup of Sanctification leaning to the left.
YACHATZ
Reader (Insert name)
Each table has a matzatosh napkin. At this time, the Disciple at your table will take the center piece of the three matza, break it in half. Wrap the larger of the two pieces in the napkin and have someone at your table hide it for later use as the Afikomen. He will then place the smaller piece back between the two whole Matza, place to the left of his dinner plate. As he is breaking it, notice the stripes, these are to remind us of the stripes of the whip Jesus/Yeshua bore. Also notice the small holes throughout the matza, and be reminded of the nail holes that pierced Christ's flesh at his crucifixion. You can read more about significance of this element in your Disciple's Passover Guide, called a Haggadah.
MAGGID
Maggid Reader 1 (Insert name)
Maggid is the telling of the story of the Exodus from Egypt. It fulfills the command to tell our children about the events of the Exodus as it is written in Exodus 13.8
Maggid Reader 2 (Insert name)
And you shall tell your children in that day saying, "This is done because of what the Lord did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt."
Maggid Reader 3 (Insert name)
The Eternal God and we worship Him. For God foretold the end of the bondage to Abraham at the Covenant of Sacrifices when he said to Abraham: "Know you that your children will be strangers in a land not their own. They will be enslaved there and will be oppressed four hundred years. The nation who will oppress them shall be judged. Afterward they will come forth as a great nation."
Maggid Reader 4 (Insert name)
And the Lord saw our affliction, our burden and our oppression. The Eternal brought us forth from Egypt, not by a ministering angel, not by a messenger, but by Himself, in his great glory, did the Holy One. As it is written, "I will pass through the land on that night, and I will smite all the first born in the land of Egypt from man and beast, and execute judgements."
Maggid Reader 5 (Insert name)
"With a strong hand, an outstretched arm, with great terror, and with signs and wonders." With blood, Boils . . . Hail . . . Locusts . . .Darkness . . . Slaying of the Firstborn.
Maggid Reader 6 (Insert name)
Therefore, it is our duty to thank and to praise in song and prayer, to glorify and extol Him who preformed all these wonders for our forefathers and for us. He brought us out from slavery to freedom, from anguish to joy, from sorrow to festivity, from darkness into a great light. Let us therefore sing before Him a new song. Hallelujah - Praise the Eternal!
Maggid Reader 7 (Insert name)
And for all the good He did for us, all forms of bondage we have ever suffered or will suffer. Our God is more powerful than all these. How much more do we have to be thankful for, the manifold and unbounded bounded blessings of the All-Present God:
DAIYENU (It is Enough!)
This is the translation of the song we are about to sing: It is tradition to hammer on the table with your fist during the chorus. Follow along in your bulletin. (You can find this traditional tune on music tapes from the Jewish publishers or call 1-800-Judaism for tape suggestions.)
Translation of Song
Had He only brought us out of Egypt it would have been enough!
Had He only given us the Sabbath, it would have been enough!
Had He only given us the Torah, it would have been enough! (Torah means instruction, also the first 5 books of the Old Testament where the story of the Exodus from Egypt is found.)
Had He only given us Jesus/Yeshua (and no other way to show his love to us), it would have been enough!
Words to the Song in Hebrew
1. Ilu hotzi hotzianu hotzianu mi-mitzrayim, Hotzianu mi-mitzrayim, daiyenu!
Chorus: (Softly) Dai Dayeinu, Dai Dayeinu, Dayeinu, Dayeinu! Hay!
2. Ilu natan natan lanu natan lanu el Ha Shabbat, natan lanu et El Shabbat, Dayeinu!
Chorus: Fairly Soft)
3. Ilu natan natan lanu natan lanu el Ha Torah, natan lanu et Ha Torah, Dayeinu!
Chorus: (Medium Loud)
4. Ilu natan natan lanu,natan lanu et Yeshua, nantan lanu et Yeshua, Dayeinu!
Chorus: (Loudest)
NOTES ON THE MEAL PORTION OF THE SERVICE
Disciples, now is the time to indicate to your table server, the person to your right hand, that the dishes need to be picked up at the serving window for the meal. Please have your server do all of the gopher work, to hold traffic to a minimum. The beverage of the evening is water.
Important: The grape juice is to be poured only for the Drinking of the cups. There will be two more half-glasses needed by everyone in the second portion of the service. Make sure your table server has the pitcher refilled and by their place before the Narration of the Final Scene. You may serve the rest of the Matza that is on your table. Pass it around so everyone can take what they want of it.
Look for these next 4 elements to be explained in your Passover Guide. Please explain them to your table members, or allow them to read about them for the information of any interested people. Remember during the meal that the conversation should be about spiritual topics, about wonders God has done for us and the discussion of the elements of Passover, as much as possible. No negative thoughts or "worldly" topics should be discussed, it they come up, remind you "family" that this is a special night and that the meal is part of the service of Our Holy Lord, celebrated since the days of bondage in Egypt.
These elements are found on your table and will be discussed with your disciple as you eat. (Leader asks the disciples to point to each element at this time.)
MOTZI
MATZAH
MOROR
KORECH
SHULCHAN - Eating of the Meal (Covered Dish dinner) (Please allow 45 minutes only for eating and clearing of tables. Leave the wine and matzah on the table only.)
At this time, after the meal, the very small children are excused to go into the nursery. We will have a demonstration of Jewish dancing, as soon as some are ready to get up, and everyone in encouraged to participate, if they are able. This is also the perfect time to visit the restroom and then resume the narrative. The next part will be more solemn and make certain everyone understands that the Passover is not completed yet.
Narration of the Final Scene:(at the front table)
(As Jesus/Yeshua, Peter/Kefa and John/Yeshua appear on the side, appear to be talking together, in mime, then Peter/Kefa and John/Kefa go to prepare the table, set out the matza, pour about 4 oz. of wine in each cup, and set out central plate, leave the pitcher of wine close at Jesus'/Yeshua place.)
Reader (Inset name)
As we read the Gospel telling of the Last Supper, "Then came the day of the Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. Jesus/Yeshua sent Peter/Kefa and John/Yochanan saying,"Go and Prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat together." They said to him, "Where will you have us prepare it?" He said to them, "Behold, when you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you; follow him in to the house which he enters, and tell the householder, "The teacher says to you, where is the guest room where I am to eat the Passover with my disciples?" He will show you a large upper room, furnished, there make ready" And they went and found it as he had told them, and they prepared for the Passover there."

The Disciples came at the appointed time, before the sun had set on the 14th day of Nisan, to be with their Lord and celebrate the Passover together.
Simon. . . Thaddeus. . . Matthew. . . Philip. . . James. . . Thomas. . . Jesus. . . John. . . Peter. . . Judas. . . Andrew. . . James the Lesser. . . and Bartholomew.
How fortunate were those who gathered in the upper room that night, for Jesus/Yeshua had chosen them to be his disciples, the companions of his ministry. Fascinated by His personality, and drawn by His love, they came from various walks of life to follow Him. He had fed them spiritually, and he had been a daily example for them of every principle of His teachings. Daily they had seen Him acting with great compassion toward all who came to Him for help. They called Him Teacher, Master, Lord. This night they were gathered about a table, not an ordinary meal, but observing Passover, the great feast in which Israel had celebrated God's act of freeing His people from the yoke of slavery in Egypt, these men had celebrated with their own families from birth, they knew the Seder service elements it contained well. Let us now join them in the climax of their meal of fellowship, as Jesus/Yeshua gives dramatic new meaning to this great festival. And he said to them. . . .
Jesus/Yeshua (Insert name)
"I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer; for I shall not again eat it until it is fulfilled in the New Kingdom of God."

Children, this is the time to search for the Afikomen. Give it to the Grandfather at your table, he is sitting at the end, he shall give you a "promise of the Father, a ransom for the hidden, This price represents the price of the bride" (Lev. 27:14). It is also the price of redemption (Matt. 26:15), we send a child to seek for the hidden Afikomen as we should be as a child seeking after righteousness and the treasure of the Messiah.
A nugget that we have found in this service recently is the realization that the word "afikoman" is Greek! The service is a Hebrew service. When we realized that this one Greek word stands alone in this service. We have traced it back to the first century and know that about the time of Jesus/Yeshua, this word as an object lesson was added to the service. We feel that it may have been inserted by those early first century believers and remains today as a beacon to us today across the centuries.
Grandfather, if you will break small pieces the size of an olive from this piece and distribute them to each person at your table, everyone hold the afikomen in your right hand and recline to the left, we will proceed with the Blessing.

We are ready and prepared to keep the commandment to eat of the Afikomen, for the sake of the One God and his presence; may it be counted as done in the name of all Israel.

Now as we were eating, I took the unleavened bread, blessed it, broke it and gave it to my disciples and fulfilling the prophecy said, "take and eat, this is my body, which is being given for you, do this in remembrance of me."

After we shared the Passover meal with our master, we disciples were shocked to hear him tell us that this very night we would all fall away from him. I loudly protested-- we all did --- that we would not. Jesus/Yeshua just smiled at us. He knew then. He always knew. And He loved us even though He knew. We went to Gethsemane where Jesus/Yeshua liked to pray in the silent beauty of that place. He asked three of us to come with him.

It is here after the meal and blessings that Jesus/Yeshua and His disciples left their last Passover Seder together and went across the Kidron Brook into the Garden of Gethsemane. They departed singing. We shall sing together also, join together and sing "How Great Thou Art", as printed on your Bulletin Insert.
How Great Thou Art
1. O Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, Consider all the worlds. Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow'r thro'out the universe displayed.
Chorus: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art, how great Thou art! Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
3. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing. Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing, He bled and died to take away my sin.
Chorus:
4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou art.
Chorus:
Exit together:

NIRTZAH
Reader (Insert reader's name)
Jesus/Yeshua and his three disciples left the Seder here,but, there is another element left, it is a prayer to God to rebuild the Temple and concludes this service with the hope that the Messiah will return before another Passover season and that we will celebrate that we will all celebrate the great feast prepared for us in Heaven at the Second Coming of the Messiah.
This is the Cup of His Coming. Everyone, pour some grape juice on for another. Again, lift it with your right hand.
Pastor (Insert name)
Please join me in the Nirzah, the Final Prayer:
Blessed art Thou, Eternal God for all You gave to our ancestors. Have compassion, O Eternal God upon us, upon Israel, upon Jerusalem, upon Your Temple, upon Your altar. Rebuild Jerusalem, Your Holy city, speedily in our days. Bring us there, and cheer us with her rebuilding. Send us Messiah, for we await his coming with anticipation and grant us joy at this Holy Season, You O God are good and worthy to be praised. We therefore give thanks unto You for the Land, the fruit of the vine. Blessed art Thou O Eternal God forevermore. Amen.
At this point, the fourth and last cup is to be drunk; but in honor of our Lord who said; "Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the Kingdom of God, I would like to suggest that we do, too, pass on the "Cup of His Coming" until the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
Everyone Shout together here:

Haggadah for the Disciples to Share at their Tables
UNDERSTANDING THE ELEMENTS OF THE PASSOVER SEDER
The Messianic understanding is that the three pieces of Matzot represent God the Father, Messiah Yeshua/Jesus, and the Holy Spirit.
The Afikomen hidden earlier in the Seder during Yachatz must be found and redeemed. The word Afikomen is from a Greek word meaning, dessert. In ancient times, the Passover Lamb was the last food to be eaten. Because there is no Temple today, no Passover Lamb is slain. Today the Afikomen replaces the Passover Lamb in remembrance of the Passover Lamb, and is the last food eaten during the Seder meal. The Seder must not go on until the Afikomen is redeemed. It is the children who are instructed to search for the hidden Afikomen.Once the Afikomen is found by one of the children, that child will begin to barter with the father concerning the price to be paid for the Afikomen. Once the price is agreed upon, the father will give a gift in the form of a down payment as his promise to the child who found the Afikomen. The immediate down payment is a gift given to the child as assurance that the final agreed upon price will ultimately be paid at a future time. This promise that the father makes to the child is called, The Promise of the Father. In this, we understand that God paid a great price for our redemption.
The Matzah is
a)Pierced----Psalms22:16b,Zech 12:10
b)Striped----Isaiah 53:5
c)Without Sin--Isaiah 53:9
This matzah which we eat, what is the reason for it? It is because there was not time for the dough of our ancestors in Egypt to become leavened, before the Ruler of all, the Holy One, blessed be He, revealed Himself to them and redeemed them, as it is told in the Bible: "And the dough which they brought out from Egypt they baked into cakes of unleavened bread, for it had not leavened because they were thrust out of Egypt and they could not tarry, nor had they prepared for themselves any provisions."
Maror, Bitter herbs. Two herbs are required because God specified, herbs.-- Exodus 12:8 They are
a) Romaine lettuce-Chazeret-- Romaine lettuce first tastes sweet. Later it becomes bitter. The sweet symbolizes your Egyptian, or worldly experiences. At first they are fun and exciting. It isn't until later you realize you err. In the bitterness, you are reminded of your bondage to sin. Chazeret becomes bitter if it remains in the ground to long without water. This is a picture of our lives if we live to long without the Word of God.
b) Freshly ground Horseradish. This too is a reminder of the bitterness for being in bondage to sin.
c) Charoset, a mixture of chopped apples, nuts, cinnamon, and spices. This represents the mortar in Egypt. It also represents the food of the promised land. Charoset is eaten with maror to lessen the bite of the bitter herbs. It reminds you that if you press on with God during difficult times that you will eventually experience the sweetness of God in your life.
Zeroa. The Zeroa represents the Passover Lamb which is sacrificed. The bone is roasted and scorched simulating the Passover sacrifice that is roasted.--Exodus 12:9 The roasted bone is known as a shank bone. There is no sacrifice, and there is no lamb to be slain. For this reason, you have only a remembrance of the Lamb which is slain. The shankbone on the Seder plate represents this remembrance.
The Believers Passover Lamb is Yeshua/Jesus.--1 Cor.5:7 The Hebrew term Zeroa means, arm. The Zeroa represents Yeshua/Jesus.--Isaiah 53:1, 5b-6.
Beitzah, a roasted egg. The Beitzah is a reminder of the additional lamb that was eaten during Passover. This second burnt offering is known as the Haggigah. (Deut.16:2). The lamb could only be eaten within the walls of Jerusalem. Pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem for the Passover feast as commanded by God--Deut. 16:16--registered in parties of 10-20 people within the Temple court. A representative for the registered group would go into the Temple to sacrifice their lamb, then bring it back to the company of people in their group to be roasted.
God commanded that you eat of the lamb until full. If you had 20 people, one lamb may not be enough to fulfill that commandment. Therefore in this case, you have a second lamb called a Haggigah. The Beitzah, or roasted egg is the remembrance for the second lamb. The Haggigah represents a peace offering. The egg's oval shape represents eternity. It has no connection with Easter, Easter eggs, or the Easter bunny. We do not eat this egg, but leave it on the seder plate as a remembrance.
Karpas. A vegetable to represent spring and rebirth. Green parsley is most often used. Celery may also be used. It is dipped in salt water near the beginning of the Seder.
Why the green vegetable and salt water? The Passover is centered in children and everything is done so that the children may ask, "Why?" In this remember that Yeshua/Jesus said,"..unless you become as little children, you shall not enter into the Kingdom of Heaven."--Matthew 18:3
The salt water symbolizes the tears shed by the slaves in Egypt. It reminds you of your sins. It reminds you of the tears shed by Yeshua/Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane.
The green parsley represents resurrection and life. It recalls the journey of the children of Israel as they passed through the Red Sea to emerge alive on the other side. It reminds us that Yeshua/Jesus rose from the dead. Spiritually, the Believer remembers that after accepting Yeshua/Jesus into their heart and life, the experienced a newness of life.--Romans 6:4
The Elements of the Seder are given to recreate the events of the redemption. Passover celebrates the historical deliverance from the bondage of sin, influenced by the waywardness of the world.
The Passover Service (the meal) speaks of the resurrection of Yeshua/Jesus, the outpouring of His Holy Spirit, and the events surrounding His second coming. Therefore, the Passover Seder service is a rehearsal of God's complete redemptive plan.
The meal should have an attitude of joyousness and solemnity, for the meal, too, is part of the Seder service. The food should be festive; the conversation pertaining to the instructions, teachings and events of Pesach and that which exalts haShem. (Extraneous conversation should be avoided for, as on the Sabbath, we are called apart unto Him this day [cf. Is. 58:13].) The meal should end long enough before midnight to allow the Afikomen/hidden matzah to be eaten by that hour.
BAREKH
(Grace After The Meal)
"Likewise also He took the cup after supper saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood which is poured out for you".
The cup of the new covenant is spoken of in Jeremiah 31:31,33. When Yeshua/Jesus said, "this is the cup which is poured out..." He is referring to the Cup of Elijah. The Cup of Elijah is the cup. Elijah the prophet, or Messiah Himself. Since Yeshua/Jesus drank of this cup, He proclaimed that He is the Messiah and the time of the New Covenant was being ushered into the earth.

So often the Service of Maundy Thursday commemorates the Lord's Supper, emphasizing the betrayal of Christ and the sorrow of the arrest thereafter. This is the moment caught in action by Leonardo DaVinci in his famous painting, it is well remembered and serves to bring us inner reflection of our worthy witness for Christ in Today's world. During tonight's presentation we shall concentrate on Praising our Lord for the completion of his salvation plan and the Disciple's part in the final days of Jesus' life on earth. We put it to you now that rather than sorrow we join in the adoration, praise and salvation of man kind to be reveled to the world and fulfilled on this night Jesus shared with his closest followers.
ORDER OF SERVICE A Passover consists of 15 steps, like to climbing of a temple staircase. Tonight we will be observing portions from each.

Sihon, King of the Amorites;
For His mercy endures forever.
And Of, King of Bashan;
For His mercy endures forever.
And favor their land as a heritage;
For His mercy endures forever.
A heritage to Israel, His servant;
For His mercy endures forever.
Who remembered us in our lowliness;
For His mercy endures forever.
And redeemed us from those who oppressed us;
For His mercy endures forever.
Who gives food to all;
For His mercy endures forever.
Give thanks to God of Heaven;
For His mercy endures forever.
"How
Great Thou Art"
(You
may sing another song if you like)
1. Oh Lord my God, when I in awesome wonder, consider all the worlds Thy hands have made, I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder, Thy pow'r thro'out the universe displayed.
Chorus: Then sings my soul, my savior God, to Thee; How great Thou art, how great Thou art, Then sings my soul, my savior God, to Thee: How great Thou art, how great Thou art.
3. And when I think that God, His Son not sparing, Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in, That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing. He bled and died to take away my sin.
4. When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation, And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration, And there proclaim, my God how great Thou art.

SHULCHAN - Eating the Meal
It is customary to start the meal with a hard-boiled egg dipped in salt water. The meal should have an attitude of joyousness and solemnity, for the meal, too, is part of the Seder service. The food should be festive; the conversation pertaining to the instructions, teachings and events of Pesach and that which exalts our Lord. (Extraneous conversation should be avoided fork as on the Sabbath, we are called apart unto Him this day (Isaiah 58:13)
AFTER THE MEAL very small children are excused to go into the nursery, we will have a demonstration of Jewish dancing, everyone up, restroom breaks and then resume the narrative.

FINAL PRAYER
At this point, the fourth and last cup is to drunk; but in honor of our Lord, Yeshua haMashiach who said: "Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the Kingdom of God" (Mark 14:25), I would suggest that we, too, pass on the 'cup of praise, victory and redemption' (Ps. 116:13) until the Marriage Supper of the Lamb.
