General Information About Jerusalem Ministries International

Dr. Collett and his wife, Deborah, come to the USA once every three years to lecture and share the amazing truths that he has found while living in Israel. His ministry, Jerusalem Ministries International, focuses on *Teaching/Education; *Archeological Excavations, and *Teaching Judeo/Christian truths.

"The Cultural Jewish roots of Chrsitianity, so evident in the Bible, are grossly misunderstood by too many believers. By not grasping the deeper meaning of the Jewish heritage and its intimate relationship with the land of Israel, it is easy to overlook some of the underlying truths revealed to us. Accordingly, JMI is committeed to help bridge this widening gap of misunderstanding by:

*Focusing on the role of the Holy Land (Jerusalem in particular) in God's Plan;
*Providing insight on the on-going activities relative to His chosen city;
*Keeping a sounding pulse on its increasingly dominant involvement in world affairs;
*Eventually making available suitable facilites for those inspired to pursue on-site studies;
*Promoting the indispensible need to have a personal relationship with God and to serve Him unconditionally."

One of the major quests, relative to the porphesied rebuilding of the new temple, is the recovery of the basic element for the ritual of Purification. In Numbers 19, Jehovah declared that ashes from the sacrifice of the unblemished red heifer would be the symbolic ingredient to be mixed in these purifying waters. Verses 10 and 21 proclaim that this process is to be unending (forever," "perpetual"). The remaining unused ashes were to be kept in a "kalal" or bucket.

Tradition has it that when the Romans destroyed the Temple in 70 AD, the ashes were hidden to avoid their discovery and destruction. In March of 1952, a copper scroll was found in the north cave of Qumra. This important archaeological discovery describes many Temple artifacts including the Ashes of the Red Heifer. It indicates that the Kalal is hidden in a cave near the Wadi Kipah which we know today as Qumran.

What Next...?

The ostraca (archaeological artifacts) found during the last dig, provided a valuable clue regarding the Qumran community, as reported in Randall Price's book "The Stones Cry Out."

The next phase is awaited with great expectation. Utilizing the results of special geophysical diagnostic techniques (Ground Penetrating Radar, Moelcular Frequency Analysis, etc..) we hope to uncover the existence of a chamber that will likely contain the artifacts described in the copper scroll mentioned.

As soon as approval is granted by the Department of Antiquities, a call will go out for volunteers. In God's good timing, we know that all is to be provided, but we pray that many will be inspired to assist in the dig or help in the major fund-raising effort anticipated.

The need for suitable facilities in Jerusalem is becoming increasingly apparent---a building to satisfy accommodations for offices, classrooms, library, and other resources. We know of such a facility in Jerusalem, which would also provide a place to stay for "digs," volunters or for those interested in studying in the Holy Land. Though moderately priced, the acquisition and refurbishment cost will certainly depend on major contibutions from those inspired to be involved.

About J.M.I:

Incorporated in 1990 as a non-profit organization in the state of Washington, Jerusalem Ministries International (J.M.I) has since gradually expanded its sphere of interest and support in many other states and countries.

It was only after several years of research and investigation that the founders energized their vision of establishing a corporate entity that would focus on biblical archaeology as a means to promote God's truths as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. This would be done through:

*Careful analysis of available information;
*Pursuit of further excavations in the Qumran area where scrolls were uncovered some fifty years ago;
*Cataloguing and sharing of new discoveries in keeping with existing ordinances;
*Dissemination of findings through teachings designed to extol th everacity of God's word and win souls for His kingdom.

To date the organization has established an on-going function in Jerusalem, wehere the International Director and Founder, Dr. Gary Collett, performs necessary liason work with the pertinent governmental agencies, and coordinates the various activities under the direction of an existing Board of Directors. Two "digs" have taken place thus far with limited results, but a major effort is being organized for a new attempt, pending approval by the Israeli Department of Antiquities and the raising of needed funds.

We Need Your Assistance!

Doing this type of research , funding archeological excavations, and working in foreign countries requires outside support. we have a highly recommended archeologist on staff who supervises our excavations. Your financial support in this exciting ministry would be greatly appreciated.
