To qualify for the Master of Arts Program, you must be a graduate of Arkansas Institute, or already have a Bachelor of Arts degree with a minimum of 120 credit hours from an accredited college approved by Arkansas Institute. All students transferring from other schools must enroll in a semester of five foundational courses at Arkansas Institute as a prerequisite to enter the Master of Arts Program. Graduates of Arkansas Institute will have completed the required foundational courses as part of the Bachelor of Arts Program, and, therefore, are immediately eligible for admission to the Master of Arts Program.
The Master of Arts Program consists of ten three-credit-hour courses, for a total of 30 credit hours. These courses will be chosen with the assistance of an Arkansas Institute advisor before the program is begun. In addition to the class material, the student is responsible for writing a ten-page paper for each course in the program, as well as a Master thesis of at least 40,000 words with an emphasis on bibliographic research. (Each course paper must be 10-12 double-spaced printed pages in length, and research references must be sited.)
The cost of the Master of Arts Program is $215 for each of the ten courses, plus a one-time materials fee of $100, for a total of $2250. For students paying for the entire program in advance, the cost is only $185 for each of the ten courses, plus the one-time materials fee of $100, for a total of $1950. Transfer students will be able to take the five required foundational courses for the undergraduate cost of $325 (resident) or $425 (correspondence student), which includes registration, tuition, and materials fees for all five courses.
