5. Restoration Foundation Site Updated! Recently we had a mother board change over at the server for both Restoration Foundation and HaY'Did. This caused quite a mess with capital letters and such until we finally gave in and did a redo. It took us several weeks and many crossed eyes, but we finally got it up and repaired. While I was at it, I posted the last two issues of Restore! magazine (Shavuot and Tabernacles were the themes) and Dr. Garr's newest book The Hem of His Garment. If you want to read over several years of excellent teaching articles and Dr. Garr's other book Our Lost Heritage, then go over to http://www.restorationfoundation.org. Dr. Garr has been busy speaking around the country and even in Canada recently. If you haven't subscribed to Restore! magazine then may I suggest that you do so NOW? It is the finest teaching magazine out there. It makes a wonderful gift for that pastor or Bible teacher, too. Visit the site and you will see subscription information.
6. Mike and Sue Dowgiewicz of Restoration Ministries out of Connecticut have their new website up and running now. It is located at http://www.earlychurch.org and you can sign up for their newsletter when visiting. Hopefully in the near future we will have the capabilities to send out more teaching articles and newsletters for our associates, but for now, please visit these sites.
One of Mike and Sue's best books that I
am sure you will enjoy is Pastoring by
Elders.
Pastoring By Elders is
$10. This is a 160-page preparation guide to help mature men
biblically shepherd and serve God's people. Emphasizes the
essentials of wisdom and experience gained on life's journey. You
may order materials from Connections/MCR 1-888-229-3041.
Another book by Sue and Mike is Restoring
The Early Church: Returning Intimacy and Power to the Modern Day
Church Regular Price $15 LIMITED TIME
OFFER.....$7.95! A comprehensive book highlighting the Hebraic
foundations of the early Church that magnified its intimacy and
power. Fully half of this 372-page book is devoted to instilling
these foundations in your everyday
life!
You can read excerpts from these books and past newsletters on their website. They have also had several articles published by Restore! Magazine and are posted on that website. Mike and Sue also do workshops, so those of you on the east coast may want to contact them. Their phone number is (860) 875-5302 and email is mikedowg@aol.com
7. HOMESCHOOLERS: TWO NEW SITES!
Robin Sampson has divided her extensive teaching website into three different sites now. One is http://www.heartofwisdom.com where Robin carries a variety of teaching articles and curriculum for homeschoolers in general. She has been voted one of the top 20 websites for homeschoolers! She also has a newsgroup that homeschool parents can join for support.
She told me last month that her two new sites were going up and boy! are they full of information! http://www.homeschoolfaq.com is just that! Information for the homeschooler ---from beginners to more experienced. Its full of answers to frequently asked questions and how tos! Biblical Holidays is now a separate site. Robin was interviewed on the Sid Roth radio program in late August and she sold several hundred of her Family Guide to the Biblical Holidays book. I can remember when she couldn't give the book away! But its in its second printing and more and more people are finding it. That site is http://www.Biblicalholidays.com Most of her 580 page book is now online. Be sure to tell your homeschool friends about these sites!
PLANE....
8. Israel anyone? Several of our teachers are taking tours to Israel this coming year. If you have a desire to go in the coming months, do contact the ministry as soon as possible! That $200 deposit is crucial to the trip! Meet those deadlines, too. Believe me, going to Israel is life changing!
March 11-21, 2000 is the date for Dr. Brad Young and Gospel Research Foundation's trip to Israel. They need one more person to complete this trip. The cost is $2170. Please contact them at bryoung@oru.edu as soon as possible! Are you the one person that was intended to go, but just hadn't found the right trip?
April 30-12, 2000: Bridges for Peace is sponsoring a Pilgrimage to Poland and Israel. Hosted by JoAnn Magnuson, Peggy Goldman and the Bridges for Peace Team. Please contact JoAnn Magnuson 612-898-3306 or BFP_JGM@COMPUSERVE.COM for more information and a brochure. Price from NY is $2998. If you want a teaching tour to Poland especially, please call today!
The Fall of 2000! Two weeks in Israel! 14 days in Israel instead of the usual 10 day tour, I should say! Randy and Betsy Felton of Potter's Clay Ministries and Tom and Cheryle Holeman of HaY'Did Learning Center are putting together two full weeks of tour in Israel. We are looking at the last week of October and the first week of November. We will be touring Meot Keoumim, the only Biblical Nature Reserve in the world, attending King of Kings Church services, experiencing sabbath with other believers in Israel, visiting the Mount of Olives with Dr. Gary Collett, and many other unusual and exciting places in Israel. $200 deposit is due by May 1, 2000 to HaY'Did Learning Center by check or money order (sorry! No credit cards may be accepted!). We're working on a brochure and an itenerary, so please contact us if you are interested. You will be asked to purchase some books to prepare for this trip, and if you'd like to see a virtual tour of Israel that was put together for another tour of Randy Felton's please go to http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/1885/ This will give you some idea of what we will be seeing. We'll be glad to talk to anyone about questions or land tour prices. Just give me a call at 1-316-331-7712 or email at shalom@haydid.org
9. Colleges are growing! I talked to Jimmilea Berryhill a while back about Jubilee Christian College and she told me that they now have classes meeting in Colorado, Omaha, Nebraska, two locations in Arkansas and two locations in London, England! Their curriculum is expanding, too. If you have a desire to take some college classes at home, then they also have correspondence courses. Please contact Jimmilea at jgjrjr@aol.com or see the website at http://www.haydid.org/jubilee.htm
Gina called from Arkansas Institute of Holy Land Studies the other day. She said that in one week they had five new students off the website! That's pretty incredible! Dr. Ron Moseley's school is available on VCR tape to your door. You can take classes right there in the comfort of your own home. Their website is http://www.haydid.org/ark.htm or drop Gina, the Administrator of the College, an email at Gina8351453@hotmail.com There is no brochure available. Everything including enrollment forms, are on the internet!
10. Hebrew Theology Class by Dr. Doug Wheeler. How does Hebrew Theology differ from the theology that most of us have been taught? That's the first question we should be asking ourselves. The next question is, where can we learn about it? In digging into the Jewish Roots studies, you soon realize that there is a great difference in theology and scholarship...its as different as night and day! Greek emphasises NOUNS and PRONOUNS. Hebrew emphasises VERBS. Greek emphasis is on logic while Hebrew is taught conceptually! Does it make a difference? YES!!! There are 1500 concepts interwoven in our Bible and they are woven from the beginning til the end of the book! There is no such thing as the state of being in Hebrew! So many Christians today are "in the state of being" just saved...sitting in a pew and doing nothing in the Kingdom. If this were the first century and you did nothing in the Kingdom, then you would not be considered "saved"!
As I said, Hebrew is a conceptual language. It has over 1500 concepts that we have NOT been taught! Imagine how different our lives would be if we understood these concepts correctly! People that have not studied conceptually have not studied Hebraically. Check your teachers out! Be careful! Ask the teachers who they have studied with! You are accountable for RIGHTLY dividing the Word. The methods of studying vary widely on the net. You need to learn to sift through teachings, and then ask questions about the teachers. What classes have they taken and from whom? Who are they accountable to, and where did they study? Are they enrolled in any classes currently or working on degrees! Ask questions, please!
Dr. Doug Wheeler is developing a course on this topic Hebrew Theology that will be presented through Jubilee Christian College hopefully in May or June of 2000. If you are interested in getting started on this topic, then order Dr. Wheeler's Hebrew Bible Study Methodology ($20 for book and $20 for the video plus $5 postage USA) by writing mendwing@bellsouth.net Its required in the first level of Hebrew, and the video is excellent so you can rewind the teaching over and over again. He even writes out each letter of the Hebrew alphabet, pronounces it, and then gets you started thinking conceptually.
I would encourage you to order the book Hebrew Thought Compared with Greek ($10) by Thorlief Boman from amazon.com. And then sign up for the class. You will be able to take the class either on campus or by correspondence. There are currently 3 levels of Hebrew offered from Jubilee Christian College. Check out their website at http://www.haydid.org/jubilee.htm Classes are available for correspondence students! You will need to have a Strong's Exhaustive Concordance, and a Gesenius Hebrew Chaldee Lexicon. Christian Book Distributors 1-978-977-5000 has these books but you will have to spell Gesenius to them over the phone! (You can't really find some of their books on their website http://www.christianbook.com )
You can also take Hebrew Bible StudyMethodolgy from Dr. Wheeler at one of his conferences http://www.haydid.org/augcon.htm . The study of Hebrew is life changing! Isn't that what we all want? His email is mendwing@bellsouth.net
I recently redid Mended Wings' website and added some new articles. If you'd like to visit it then drop by http://www.haydid.org/wings.htm Dr. Wheeler's schedule is very busy, so please keep your eye on the conference webpage.
11. Salvation is a gift...Discipleship is a process. The Center for Judaic Christian Studies
Just talked to James at Dwight Pryor's office and he asked us to share some news with you. Anyone that is not already a monthly Havarim member ($10 a month) may email them at JCStudies@aol.com and request one free complementary teaching tape by Dwight Pryor. You will also receive a catalog of their producst and a brocure on their Haverim School of Discipleship Seminar in April. Please mention that you saw this UPDATE, okay?
Dwight will also be speaking at the Christian Believers United Conference March 3-5, 2000. Other speakers include Dr. Brad Young and Cheryle Holeman. I know that there are other speakers scheduled, but I haven't seen a brochure yet. As soon as I get it, I will post that information on the cbu website at http://www.haydid.org/cbu.htm For now last year's information is posted on that link. Check back, okay?
The Haverim School of Discipleship, a residential seminar with Dwight Pryor will be conducted April 4-8, 2000 at the Bergamo Center for Lifelong Learning in Dayton, Ohio.
Taken from the brochure: Objectives: "All real living comes in meeting" observed the gifted Jewish philosopher Martin Buber. My personal experience confirms that --whether meeting with God or God's people, its life at its best. Often my most enlightening and enriching times as a teacher occur in my travels, when I have occassion to meet and intimately interact with friends of the ministry. When two or three of us sit together, discussing the things of God, and sharing our hearts and experiences, the Lord's Shekinah prevails."
"I want to have that opportunity with you, to assist and encourage you in your discipleship with Yeshua. I may not be able to travel to where you are, but the Haverim School of Discipleship makes it possible for you to come to Dayton, where I am, for an extended time of fellowship and learning. For five days we can sit together, seek His face, and listen for His voice in order to walk in His ways."
"In the time of Christ a haver was more than a friend; haverim were companions in study. The H.S.D. is your opportunity to become just such a companion. You can join me and other Haverim members from around the US in a quiet, peaceful setting, as we set our minds and hearts to grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Together, intensively, we will study God's word and wrestle with important issues of our faith. We will seek His wisdom for godly living and the kind of knowledge that renews us after His image. In sum, for nearly a week we will meet, live and learn together. After all, life is for learning, and learning, for life!"
The H.S.D. seminar is intended to be personal, interactive, and intensive. To facilitate these goals, registration will be limited to 30 Haverim members. Save $50 by registering before January 31, 2000! You may also call 937-434-4550 to talk to a real person if you like.
12. Potter's Clay Ministry http://www.haydid.org/potter.htm
One of our favorite friends is Randy Felton. He may live 4 hours away one way, but he's the Ministry Advisor that has the most input into what goes on here at HaY'Did. He drops everything and drives up to teach our local group, too. Needless to say, our local group thinks he is pretty special. What we like most about Randy is that he is a servant of God most of all. He's the one that takes those hot, dusty, dirty missions trip to Mexico when no one else will go. He's the one that is on his knees laying tile for HaKesher Ministries at their new retreat. He's the one that constantly reminds us that too many of us will whip out our checkbook in a minute to buy a book or attend a fancy conference where our ears get tickled, but when was the last time, we helped pay for a missions trip, or even bothered to find out about needs of a ministry.
Right now Randy is very involved in Mexico. He travels to two different locations and helps build buildings. One location builds homes in Juarez, Mexico for the needy. Another location goes further into the interior of Mexico and is actually working with Mexicans that have never seen a white man, or heard the gospel at all! He's gone there to help build a pastor's lodge so that these rural pastors can come for training. Of course, we'd love to help underwrite Randy going to these locations with books in his hands, but we can't. Our ministry is very small, but we hoped that if we wrote about these needs that someone out there would add it to their prayer list, and another might hear from the LORD to give those needed books, or help underwrite Randy's expenses. There are very few books that are translated into Spanish that can be used to teach these things. We haven't found a Strong's Concordance at all! But the need is there, and if we pray, maybe God will answer.
I recently decided that Randy's webpage needed a redo. He sent me 13 new teaching articles that he had put together for the Young Married's Class that he teaches at his church in OKC, OK. They are posted on the website for you to copy off any time. He also asked me to remind you that its okay to make donations of things to ministries. Right now he could pass along bicycles, used trucks, used computers, and certainly cash donations. Its the end of the year and of course everything is tax deductible.
Randy has also been invited to teach in February in Brazil. Those of you that live in Brazil may want to contact Randy at shalom2@home.com to find out his schedule. He is in need of money to help purchase books to take down there, too. If you would like to make a donation towards this, please contact Randy as soon as possible. It will be seed well planted.
13. Gary and Debra Collett were in the USA this summer and we had the priveledge of spending time with them. What a delight they were! I invite you to read Gary's articles posted at http://www.haydid.org/gary.htm on The Hand of God. If you would like to sign up for Gary's newsletter, then write to Jerusalem Ministries International, PO Box 1667, Everett, WA 98201. When Gary was here he taught on the many things so they now have more tapes and a new set of videos. Many of the prophesy teachers out there totally ignore Isaiah 17 in their teachings. Gary is the only one that I have heard that even includes that critical scripture in his teachings. His new video that he did in California on Daniel's 70 Weeks includes his explanation of Isaiah 17 and what he believes will happen. Gary is also very involved in a new dig that he has been working with the Antiquities Department in Israel. He hopes that this new dig will start this spring in Israel. Contact his office for more information.
